Rhetoric for TEACHERS

When purchasing the book from the Rhetoric Academy's online store – it comes with a personalized message from the author!

“Rhetoric for Teachers” is a handbook for anyone seeking to nurture (in themselves or others) a free-thinking individual. After all, we are all Teachers.

Rhetoric remains one of the least explored branches of the liberal arts (Artes Liberales) to this day. Many people today assume that rhetoric is merely public speaking or manipulating an audience for selfish goals. In doing so, they forget the metaphysical side of Rhetoric. And yet, according to the ancient Egyptians, the word is the very essence of a human being.

When we watch someone speak beautifully and persuasively, telling an engaging story, we’re witnessing only the final result. But how do you deliver such a speech? How do you tell a story like that? How do you prepare for it?

Let’s look at what makes a good story. If we break it down into its components, we find the 7 elements of the art of rhetoric — 7 steps to the summit:

  • our thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs;

  • our charisma;

  • our breathing;

  • our body;

  • our voice;

  • the structure of our speech;

  • our vocabulary.

But these 7 elements are only techniques and methods. For them to truly work, something more is needed. What is it?

You must want to and allow yourself to be free. Because rhetoric is the art of free people.

How do you learn that?

Be like the sea.
Because the sea is freedom — it is the poetry of Life.
